Radiology is a medical specialty that uses a variety of imaging techniques to diagnose and treat diseases seen within the body.

The acquisition of medical images is usually carried out by the radiological technologist. The diagnostic radiologist then interprets the images and produces a report of their findings and impression or diagnosis. This report is then transmitted to the physician who requests the imaging, either routinely or emergently.
